busreinvented.com is the bus consultancy of Robert Montgomery, with 55 years experience of the international bus industry including over 40 years in senior management positions, playing a leading role in developing and executing urban and inter city  bus strategies.

His current focus is on exploring how the industry, and personal mobility generally, needs to evolve over the next two decades to create cities fit for a NET ZERO world. 

Riding the Bus to NET ZERO  is an evolving piece of creative work identifying the challenges facing bus operators, local transport authorities and Government on the role of the bus in enabling all three parties to deliver on Government's commitment to deliver NET ZERO in the UK by 2050. 

Those challenges are deep and wide ranging and require the bus industry, in its widest sense, to embrace a future based on working with allies investing in transformational growth in both the industry and the urban environment across the UK.     

.Currently, bus operators, local transport authorities and Government  are engaged in major programmes to replace the 40,000 diesel buses in the UK with ZERO EMISSION fleet and transfer ultimate control of bus services in major urban areas to the public sector.

Both of those issues are important BUT, in the context of delivering NET ZERO, both developments, of themselves, are simply tinkering around the edges and not delivering the scale of change to the bus product, itself.

Much more needs to be done to the urban environment and to the product delivered for customers in changing the SIZE, SHAPE, STYLE and QUALITY of bus networks across the UK to cut the volume of car travel by up to 30%, improve air quality, kill congestion and make our towns and cities cleaner, healthier and more liveable by 2050
